A little about our family......

Our family began on September 11th, 2006. We decided that we would both rather live in Texas than Louisiana so that's where we have lived for 2 1/2 years. We started out with one dog and now we have three. Boss is a mutt that we got from the pound and he's the oldest. Next there's Cash, an American Bulldog. He's go lots of energy and is very strong. Then there's Bruiser, our boxer. He's not even a year old and he's already really big. He's the spoiled brat of the bunch and he has no discipline (We're working on that). We bought our first house in September of 2007. Its a small house and we are already starting to grow out of it, but its home. During that time we have also picked up a few random animals that Zak has caught but eventually we let them go. A couple of them were a bat (very ugly) and a bunny. We really liked the bunny but he didn't like us much and never got used to us, so we decided that it was best to let him live in the wild. Right now our lives are crazy, with Zak being in school and working full time, and our beautiful new daughter, there's not much time to spend together. But we make the most of it with the 2 days a week we have together. Its really different not being able to just pick up and go whenever we want. Now we have to schedule grocery trips in between feeding and nap times. But we love little angel that we have been blessed with and can't imagine our lives without her now.

The newest addition to our family

We were just blessed with our first baby. Her name is Phoenix Cassidy and we couldn't be happier. Her birth weight and height were 7.8 lbs and 20 inches. We brought her home on March 11th with my (Melanie's) parents. We quickly discovered how hard she sleeps when Zak had to rent a plumbing snake from Home Depot. It was so loud that my mom and I had to almost yell to hear eachother and Phoenix slept peacefully on my mom's lap. Since then, there have been many sleepless nights, but even more wonderful moments that help me remember how much I love being a mother. It was amazing to watch her eyesight improve. You could really tell when she was able to focus on things that got further and futher away. She is starting to smile more and more and she hardly ever wakes up crying anymore.
