Baby Talk

So one day Phoenix decided that she didn't need to talk anymore, she needed to scream. This is just a cute short video of her doing just that.

Just some cute things!

So its been a while since I put things on the blog and I'm sorry. These are just some cute pics we took of her. There's some of her trying to crawl and just hanging out. The one with the bandana is my favorite. I went to New Orleans with my two sisters and my bro-in-law and I forgot a sun hat so we went to one of the stores and all we could find was a bandana. It worked out great. Zak was trying to make it look like she was standing on her own but she made a really silly face so I couldn't resist putting it up. Lastly, I just really liked the dress and wanted to take a picture of her.

The Beach

We decided to go to the beach on a whim a couple weekends ago. We were just kind of bored and it was only 10 a.m. I think once we were there for a while Phoenix started to like it. At first we waded out to the water with her and dipped her feet in a couple times. She just studied everything and didn't make a sound. Then we went to the shore and sat down with her. I don't know if it was the water rushing up on her or what but there were a few times when she didn't seem to like it very much which surprised me because she always splashes around in the tub and has a blast. But then she started to realize that everything was ok. There were a couple times when she tried to grab the water. It was too cute!!! You can see it in the last picture. We didn't stay long because lets face it; you can't be at the beach and have fun for too long with a 5 month old. But it was fun while it lasted!

Check This Out!!!!!

So I was putting Phoenix to bed for the night and she woke up right when I put her down. I turned around and she started making noise so I looked back at her. When I saw her, she had turned over to her back so I didn't actually see her roll over. So tonight I decided to video her and see if she would do it again. It took her less than two minutes to roll over!!! But of course Zak came in the room and he distracted me and when I looked back at her she had just rolled over. So again I didn't actually see it when it happened, but this time.....I got it on video!

Trip to Louisiana

We finally were able to bless Phoenix. It took some coordinating but we did it! The dress she wore was also worn by myself and my two sisters. It was really nice that the dress was still in good enough condition for her to wear it. I was especially glad that we were able to have so many family and friends that were able to make it. Before sacrament we went to a nice park and took some pictures with our family. We also were able to make it to Mandi's graduation. I'm so proud of her she's the first or my siblings to graduate from college and her next step is Med-School. Good luck Mandi!!!

Tummy Time!!!!

Phoenix has been getting her tummy time in lately. Sometimes she likes it and sometimes she doesn't. Most of the time she'll be okay for about 10 min and then she gets frustrated and wants to get off the floor. Here are some pictures and a video of her "working out." Enjoy...

A little about our family......

Our family began on September 11th, 2006. We decided that we would both rather live in Texas than Louisiana so that's where we have lived for 2 1/2 years. We started out with one dog and now we have three. Boss is a mutt that we got from the pound and he's the oldest. Next there's Cash, an American Bulldog. He's go lots of energy and is very strong. Then there's Bruiser, our boxer. He's not even a year old and he's already really big. He's the spoiled brat of the bunch and he has no discipline (We're working on that). We bought our first house in September of 2007. Its a small house and we are already starting to grow out of it, but its home. During that time we have also picked up a few random animals that Zak has caught but eventually we let them go. A couple of them were a bat (very ugly) and a bunny. We really liked the bunny but he didn't like us much and never got used to us, so we decided that it was best to let him live in the wild. Right now our lives are crazy, with Zak being in school and working full time, and our beautiful new daughter, there's not much time to spend together. But we make the most of it with the 2 days a week we have together. Its really different not being able to just pick up and go whenever we want. Now we have to schedule grocery trips in between feeding and nap times. But we love little angel that we have been blessed with and can't imagine our lives without her now.

The newest addition to our family

We were just blessed with our first baby. Her name is Phoenix Cassidy and we couldn't be happier. Her birth weight and height were 7.8 lbs and 20 inches. We brought her home on March 11th with my (Melanie's) parents. We quickly discovered how hard she sleeps when Zak had to rent a plumbing snake from Home Depot. It was so loud that my mom and I had to almost yell to hear eachother and Phoenix slept peacefully on my mom's lap. Since then, there have been many sleepless nights, but even more wonderful moments that help me remember how much I love being a mother. It was amazing to watch her eyesight improve. You could really tell when she was able to focus on things that got further and futher away. She is starting to smile more and more and she hardly ever wakes up crying anymore.
